D-53 board to appoint new Brook Forest principal

OAK BROOK — The Butler School District 53 Board of Education has announced the appointment of Kelly Voliva as the new principal of Brook Forest School beginning with the 2013-14 school year.

In District 53, Voliva supervises all special education and early childhood programming, is a former curriculum team facilitator, sits on the district administrative team, provides professional development in an array of areas and directs the district’s summer academy program.

Voliva has a bachelor's degree in special education from Purdue University, a master's in education from Valparaiso University and an advanced degree in educational leadership from Loyola University.

Voliva was chosen to lead the elementary school from a group of 61 candidates. The board will finalize the appointment at its April 25 meeting.
