WESTMONT – Residents in Downers Grove Township elected to keep the same leadership, voting to re-elect incumbent Supervisor Frank Wurster by a large margin Tuesday.

Wurster, a Downers Grove resident who ran on the Republican ticket for the office of township supervisor, defeated Democratic challenger Karol Ann Sole by more than 3,400 votes.

Wurster received 8,703 votes, while Sole, of Westmont, received 5,275 votes.

All results are considered unofficial until they are verified by the county clerk and absentee ballots are tallied.

Wurster, who has served as supervisor since 2009, campaigned on his experience and keeping taxes low, while Sole's message was the office, under her leadership, could be run more efficiently and effectively that it has been operating the past four years.
