Gov. Quinn approves local road projects
Gov. Pat Quinn announced last week that more than $2 million will be spent on capital investment road projects in DuPage County as part of his Illinois Jobs Now! program designed to create jobs in the state.
Contracts recently were awarded for projects in Lombard, Burr Ridge and Winfield. Each of these projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
In Lombard, traffic signal, median and striping work will be done on North Avenue between Swift Road and westbound Interstate 355. H&H Electric Co. of Franklin Park will do the work for $917,248.
In Burr Ridge, widening and resurfacing work will be done on Madison Street from 91st to 79th streets. K-Five Construction Corporation of Lemont will complete the work for $524,992.
Resurfacing and improvement work will be done on Manchester Road from Winfield to County Line roads in Winfield. The contract is $606,806 from Geneva Construction Company.
