Glenbard East softball antsy to play after three-game skid
Rams hope to get back on track when DVC play starts Monday
LOMBARD — First it was the cold weather. Now it’s the rain.
The spring sports season was delayed by a cold March. Currently baseball and softball teams are suffering through rain outs.
Glenbard East softball hasn’t played since Saturday and the Rams are itching to get back on the field to erase the memory of being swept by Hinsdale Central in a doubleheader.
“It’s tough when we’re not playing consistently and we’re not having a chance to bounce back,” said East coach Val Pinzker.
The Rams lost 14-4 and 4-1 to the Red Devils. East allowed nine unearned runs in the two games following five errors in the doubleheader.
Two days earlier Montini knocked off the Rams 9-2 despite three hits and a home run from Brittany Plimmer. Plimmer is tied with Megan Cotterill for the team lead in RBIs with five.
Cotterill is hitting .409. Carissa Slobodecki leads the Rams at .429.
East is scheduled to return to action on Friday against Glenbard South. Starting on Monday they will begin DuPage Valley Conference play with games against Naperville Central, Glenbard North and Wheaton North throughout the week.
“We’ve had a full week of practice and hopefully we can play well going into conference,” Pinzker said.
