Darien officials advise residents who are considering private company services

DARIEN – The City of Darien is advising residents that private companies marketing services to provide loss prevention coverage for residential water supply lines, or sanitary service lines, are not a service endorsed by the city.

Those considering this type of coverage are advised to carefully evaluate the exclusions under the agreement in order to understand what services are and are not covered by the policy, and what may still be a cost to them regardless of the coverage being purchased.

Residents also are encouraged to speak with their homeowners' insurance agent and plumber regarding the value of the coverage, and the likelihood of needing to utilize the type of coverage being provided.

Residents who have questions regarding their water supply line, as well as the permitting requirements when repairing or replacing those lines, should call Municipal Services at 630-353-8105.
