Help needed for trail cleanup
The annual Earth Day Trail Cleanup is scheduled to take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, rain or shine. The goal each year is to clean up as much of the 62 miles of the Illinois Prairie Path as possible. Volunteers sought for courts program
Fox Valley Court Watch is offering a training session on May 1 for anyone interested in volunteering in Kendall and Kane counties. Training for both counties is being held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. Charles Police Building Training Room, Door 4, 211 N. Riverside St., St Charles. The Fox Valley Court Watch Program monitors the judicial process in domestic violence courts in Kane and Kendall Counties Judicial Centers. Volunteers must be 18 years old, have an e-mail address, daily e-mail access, and commit to a minimum of one half-day session on a weekday per month for at least six months. To register for training, visit www.foxvalleycourtwatch.org. Fox Valley Court Watch hosts monthly meetings at the Batavia Public Library at 9:30 a.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
CASA recruiting volunteer advocates
CASA Kane County, a nonprofit organization that trains volunteers as Court Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children, is holding special recruitment meetings for men interested in volunteering. Meetings are set for:
• 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 15, at Elgin Public House, 219 E. Chicago St., Elgin.
• 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 22, at McNally's Irish Pub, 109 W. Main St., St. Charles.
• 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, at Two Brothers Roundhouse, 205 N. Broadway, Aurora.
