Getty honored by residents' support following reelection

LYONS – Village President Christopher Getty said he's honored by the support he's received from residents following his reelection on April 9.

"One of the biggest things we pushed for was bringing the community together... and it worked," Getty said.

Getty was reelected with 1,508 votes, and grabbed 70 percent of the vote.

He attributed his campaign's success to being pro-resident and being responsive to their concerns during his previous four years in office. Over the next four years, Getty said he would continue this approach, while also continuing to work on paving the village's streets and bringing new businesses into the village. Getty said he also plans to begin an alley paving program in the future and to expand village programs for residents.

"The hurdle for a village like ours is always about finding funding," Getty said. "We'll have to continue to work within our means."

Getty said he feels gratitude to the residents of Lyons for continuing to believe in him.

"This is my home and I love Lyons," Getty said.

Getty's opponate in the campaign, trustee Patti Wisneski, said that despite the loss, she was proud of the Village Independent Party's campaign.

"We were David and they were Goliath," Wisneski said. "They had the big money and we had very limited funds. I guess money and false promises do win elections."
