Nazareth to host dedication ceremony for new athletic facilities April 27
New softball field to be named after former Naz teacher and coach
LA GRANGE PARK — Nazareth will host a field dedication ceremony on Saturday, April 27 at 9:00 a.m. celebrating the legacy of Mr. John Michalek, a dedicated teacher, coach, friend and colleague at Nazareth for thirty years. Mr. Michalek passed away in June 2012. In commemoration of his many contributions to Nazareth’s legacy, the new softball field is named in his honor.
The ceremony will be held prior to the varsity softball doubleheader at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to join, which will take place rain or shine.
Nazareth will also bless the new tennis courts and the whole athletic complex. The field and court signify on-campus athletic facilities for nearly every competitive sport in which Nazareth Academy participates in the prestigious East Suburban Catholic Conference.
Over the past 10 years, Nazareth Academy has added and enhanced facilities to match rising enrollment, as well as academic and athletic demands. These include a state-of-the-art auditorium, a formal entrance hall, a recently added Chemistry lab, a dining hall, a renovated library and more.
Nazareth Academy, a Catholic, coeducational, college preparatory high school serving families from 55 communities and over 100 grade schools in Chicago and the western suburbs, established in 1900 and sponsored by the Congregation of St. Joseph, values scholarship, service, spirit, and unity.
