Boys tennis previews: Glenbard East off to winning start

Addison Trail, Willowbrook hoping to crack top 3 in West Suburban Gold

What to watch:

The Rams are off to a winning start to the season with a 3-1 record in dual matches and a first-place finish in the Addison Trail quad on April 6.

Nick Cornell has moved into the No. 1 singles spot after playing No. 1 doubles with Brandon Nasti for much of last season. Nasti remains at that spot and has played with Kevin Osburn in the early part of this season.

Nathan Delawder (No. 2) and Shehdad Khundmiri (No. 3) have moved up to higher singles spots.

What to watch: The Broncos feature a number of players that compete in other sports at Montini.

Sean Nash was a starter for the basketball team and Andrew Harte was a standout kicker for the state champion Broncos football team. Nash will play No. 2 singles while Harte will play doubles.

Junior Mike Gowin will play No. 1 singles. Brian Konopacz and Pat Mulkerrin will contribute to the doubles teams.

What to watch:

The Blazers are looking to improve on last year’s sixth-place finish in the West Suburban Gold.

Coach Chris Grice has started taking videos of practices to help the players improve on their form. Grice hopes the team can crack the top three with Morton, Leyden and Willowbrook the expected competition for that spot.

Senior Lan Lin returns at No. 1 singles. Junior Camden Knights will slide in behind him at No. 2. Knights is a varsity returner and the team captain.

Dan Winterrose and Hemal Patel are joining up this year to take the No. 1 doubles spot.

AT had a 5-4 record as of April 10.

What to watch:

The Warriors have a senior-heavy team and could have all seniors representing them at the sectional meet.

Chris Storck is the Warriors’ No. 1 singles players for the third year in a row and will be hoping to make state in his senior year.

Mitchell Umano has played No. 2 singles and Nehal Mansuri and Josh Barrantes have teamed up at No. 1 doubles. The No. 2 doubles team of Jose Phillips and Josh Krzyzanowski are also both seniors.
