WHEATON – The cause of a fire at Butterfield's Restaurant, 351 Rice Lake Square in Wheaton, is undetermined at this time, fire officials said.

The Wheaton Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at about 7:15 p.m. Saturday. The fire was located in the landscaping on the northeast corner of the restaurant, in the area of the restaurant's electric, gas and cable service connections.

The restaurant had no interior damage, but all three utility companies were notified to check their service connections. One person asked to be transported to the hospital to be checked, fire officials said.

The Wheaton Fire Department was assisted by the Wheaton Police Department as well as several neighboring fire departments. Estimated damages are unknown at this time. The property was turned back over to the owners after the fire was extinguished.
