Letter: Vote for Giagnorio ensures transparency

To the Editor: Election Day will be here before we know it and results will soon be front-page news. Yes, voters, it's election time and, as is so often the case with these mid-term local elections, we will likely see low voter turnout. Let us educated voters prove the pundits wrong with an unprecedented turnout.

Lombard has an opportunity to bring true leadership and dedication to making the collective community first again with the election of Keith Giagnorio as village president. These past months have seen our Village Board in a state of disarray, divisiveness and lacking in defined leadership and direction.

Some seemingly put advancement of personal agendas at any cost ahead of putting Lombard first. Recent items like the proposed redevelopment of the Ken Loch property, the continued funding of the Friends of the DuPage Theatre's arts agenda, and the attempt to micromanage department heads' budgets truly makes one wonder whose interests they are representing.

Never has the time been more right for the community to come together under the leadership of village president candidate Keith Giagnorio. Your vote for Keith ensures that Lombard will stay on the right path as he strives to work with police, fire and public works. Your vote for Keith will put all the interests of Lombard first as he stands not only for intergovernmental agreement but also for ongoing partnerships with park district, library and school boards. And your vote for Keith ensures full disclosure and open public discussion versus the veiled political ploys and back room deals as it relates to proposed open space redevelopment and the impact it would have on our collective community.

Please help put Lombard first on April 9 with your vote for Keith Giagnorio for village president.
