Letter: Morley would work hard as mayor

To the Editor: I support Steve Morley for mayor of Elmhurst.

I’ve known Steve for over nine years. I’ve found Steve to be a thoughtful, hardworking family man who considers all sides of an issue before voicing an opinion or making a decision.

Steve is president of an Elmhurst-based marketing company, where for the last 20 years he has developed leadership and business skills – skills that are necessary to help guide the city effectively. Additionally, over the past six years, Steve has proven to be a dedicated, hardworking alderman. He thoughtfully considers every issue that comes before the City Council – whether advocating for cost-saving electrical aggregation, or aligning the timing of city budget and tax levy discussions, Steve takes the time to understand the issues and vote in the best interest of Elmhurst citizens.

The ability to build consensus, and put the interests of Elmhurst ahead of his own, are extremely important for the mayor to lead the City Council in making decisions. I’m impressed that Steve has the support of nine of the 11 current city aldermen who are not running for office. This speaks volumes for the respect Steve has earned through his ability to work with the other members of the Council.

We are fortunate to have good people in Elmhurst making thoughtful decisions to help run our city. Steve Morley is one of those good people, and I feel he's the best candidate to guide our City Council through the next four years.

I urge you to vote for Steve Morley for mayor. I will.
