CLARENDON HILLS — Kelechekwu Akuba, Leverenzel Booth and Jerron Wilbut pleaded not guilty this week to the charge of robbing a juvenile near Clarendon Hills on March 7, according to media reports.

The three men made their pleas during separate hearings Monday in front of DuPage County Circuit Court Judge John Kinsella, who informed the men that the DuPage County State's Attorney had filed aggravated robbery and armed robbery charges against the men in addition to the original robbery charges.

The armed robbery charge carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.

Akuba, of Romeoville; Booth, of Darien; and Wilbut, of Willowbrook; were all charged after they allegedly stole money and property from the juvenile while displaying what the victim believed to be a handgun.

Wilbut graduated from Downers Grove South High School in 2012 after three years on the varsity squad. His senior year, the 6-foot-3 guard averaged 13.5 points per game and was considered a candidate for Mr. Basketball Illinois.

After graduating, he went to St. John's Northwest Military Academy, and he reportedly verbally committed to Seton Hall for the coming year.
