LOMBARD — On Tuesday, teachers from Stanford University Hopkins Marine Biology Laboratory and throughout the state, along with a group of international educators from Sweden, will be at Glenbard East High School observing classes taught by Tom Martinez, AP biology and biotechnology teacher.

He will host the group in his classroom before they tour the Shedd Aquarium.

Later in April, Martinez will give a presentation that focuses on teaching students about identifying anticancer compounds in marine animals at the National Science Teachers Association conference in San Antonio. In September, he will give the same presentation in England and Sweden.

This program is funded by a grant that allows teachers in America and Sweden to collaborate resources and teach students about current issues in oceanic environments.
