GLEN ELLYN — A Lisle man has been charged with burglarizing cars parked in a Glen Ellyn District 41 parking lot, according to a news release from the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office.

Charles Johnsen, 24, of the 5700 block of Abbey Drive in Lisle, is accused of stealing items from cars in the District 41 headquarters lot at 793 N. Main St., according to the release.

Glen Ellyn police officers responded to a report of a suspicious person near the maintenance garage in the parking lot on Tuesday. Upon arrival, an officer allegedly encountered Johnsen and began speaking with him before Johnsen fled the scene on foot when a second officer arrived, according to officials. Officers quickly apprehended and arrested him.

Johnsen allegedly entered several unlocked vehicles in the lot and stole items such as tools and GPS devices, according to the release. It is further alleged that Johnsen stole items from a motor vehicle parked in the garage of a nearby residence.

Johnsen has been charged with one count of burglary and one count of residential burglary, the release reads. His bond was set at $100,000 when he appeared in court Wednesday morning. Johnsen is scheduled to appear in court May 6.
