Downers South girls soccer scores 2-0 victory in Gold opener

DOWNERS GROVE — A pair of long-range strikes Tuesday lifted Downers Grove South's girls soccer team to a perfect start in West Suburban Gold action.

Tess Grannan scored from about 30 yards and Brittany Dietz converted a 25-yard free kick to give the Mustangs (5-2, 1-0) a 2-0 victory over Willowbrook.

Katelyn Laraia earned the shutout in goal.

The Mustangs continue their home stand at 6:30 p.m. Thursday against Glenbard East and at 6 p.m. Saturday vs. Naperville North.
