WEST CHICAGO — An exhibition from the College of DuPage Photo X Club will be on display at Gallery 200 in West Chicago from April 4 until April 28.
"As We See It," a photographic collaborative from 14 artists including students, alumni and local photographers, is the final display in a series of art education programs featured at Gallery 200, 200 Main St. in West Chicago.
The Photo X Club began in 2010 as an extension of Photo Exhibition, a COD course that immersed students in the process of how to create an exhibition.
As part of Photo Exhibition, students edit and select about 10 to 12 images to include in a cohesive body of work, or that student's portfolio. Students then select four to five of those images to be placed in an exhibit, but final decisions regarding which images will appear in the exhibit are made by photography staff members. Students then plan all aspects of the exhibit.
Anyone is welcome to attend a free opening reception for "As We See It" from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Gallery 200.
Photo X Club members will be present at the event, and refreshments will be served. The West Chicago City Museum, 132 Main St., also will be open for "Late Night at the Museum" in conjunction with the reception hours.
Gallery 200 is a cultural initiative supported by the city of West Chicago and the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission. The gallery is open Thursday and Friday from noon until 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. For more information, call 630-293-9550 or visit www.gallery200.org.
