Prep Roundup: Nazareth baseball off to undefeated start
Roadrunners pick up four shutouts in 5-0 start
The Roadrunners are off to another hot start to the season, winning their first four games and not allowing a run. Nazareth beat IC Catholic 8-0 on March 26 with five pitchers contributing to the shutout.
After that, Nazareth traveled to Kentucky for a spring break trip. They beat Butler 6-0 in Louisville. Jake Bartels and Joe Nelson combined for a three-hit shutout. The Roadrunners swept a doubleheader against Holy Cross, 3-0 and 8-0. Peter Minella picked up the win in Game 1 and Mike Kogut struck out 10 batters over five innings in Game 2. On Monday the Roadrunners returned to La Grange Park with an 8-1 win over Kenwood.
The Chargers opened the season with a 5-2 win over Proviso West on Thursday. Ryan Moritz earned the win on the mound with nine strikeouts over four innings.
Luke Daughenbaugh had two hits in the Chargers' 6-2 win over Ridgewood on Saturday.
