Published: Tuesday, April 2, 2013 5:00 p.m. CDT

LOMBARD — This spring, the Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Association will host its 34th-annual track meet at Glenbard East High School for students and adults with disabilities.

More than 200 athletes from 14 local park districts throughout the western suburbs will participate in running and wheelchair races, a softball throw, long jump and shot put.

NEDSRA is seeking volunteer "buddies" who will work with the athletes and encourage them during competition. High school students who need service hours are encouraged to participate, as are family members of athletes.

Lunch and refreshments will be available, and there will be music, games and activities in addition to the track meet.

Anyone interested in volunteering must submit the paperwork on the NEDSRA website,

nedsra.org, by May 3. For more information, call 630-620-4500.
