BROOKFIELD — Brookfield police are investigating a report that a man walking out of a tunnel at the Congress Park Metra stop, located at Dubois and Burlington avenues, pulled a knife on two men on April 1 around 7:30 p.m.
The victims told police that they were walking northbound on Deyo Avenue when they approached the tunnel and decided to not walk through. Instead they began to climb the embankment alongside the tunnel toward the station when they saw a man appear out of the tunnel.
The man was described as white, in his mid-30s, weighing about 220 pounds and wearing a red and white baseball hat. As he came out of the tunnel, the victims reported he appeared to be talking to himself and yelled, “I will kill you.”
One of the victims asked the man if he was talking to them, to which the offender replied that he guessed he was. He then pulled out a pocket knife and opened it.
The victims ran over the tracks and called 911. Police searched the area, but did not locate anyone that matched the offender’s description.
