Woodridge holding drive to collect unwanted medications for safe disposal

WOODRIDGE — The Woodridge Police Department is giving residents a chance to dispose of unwanted medication properly, instead of throwing them out or flushing them down the toilet, which can be detrimental to the environment.

Residents can bring them to the Woodridge Police Department during the DEA's National Take Back Program. Old prescriptions, pills or patches will be collected between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at the police department, 1 Plaza Drive.

All the pills should be transferred into a single plastic bag and the plastic bottles should be recycled. Medications that are turned in will be disposed of by incineration. No needles or liquids will be accepted.

For information, call the Woodridge Police Department at 630-719-4740.
