DOWNERS GROVE — Trash will cost a little more in the village as of this week.

Beginning Monday, the price of garbage stickers in Downers Grove has gone from $3.37 to $3.52. The price of carts also went up this week.

The annual increases are part of the contract with the village's waste management company, Republic Services.

There will be no change in the color or appearance of the stickers, and stickers purchased before the Monday deadline will still be accepted.

Carts, meanwhile, are rented from Republic on a quarterly basis. The monthly price will go from $14.95 to $15.70 for a 35-gallon cart; from $17.51 to $18.20 on a 65-gallon cart; and from $23.00 to $23.95 on a 95-gallon cart.

The contract with Republic Services will still include an amnesty day, which includes limitless trash pick-up, in the fall.
