District 201 superintendent urges parents to keep kids focused over break
BERWYN — Morton High School District 201 Superintendent Michael Kuzniewski is asking school parents to help keep their kids minds on school during spring break.
“We know that academic success begins with your support at home,” Kuzniewski stated in a message to parents. “With spring break on everyone’s mind, I am asking parents and guardians to reinforce your child’s academic potential by reminding them that there are still some very important milestones to accomplish upon their return from spring break prior to the end of the year.”
Students are scheduled to take assessments in April and May. Freshman will be taking the EXPLORE test, sophomores will be taking the PLAN and all students of junior standing, as well as many seniors, will be taking the PSAE test, which is required to graduate.
Students currently enrolled in Advanced Placement (AP) classes will be testing in May, and in most subjects, if they earn a score of three or higher on this exam, they will receive college credit at most colleges and universities.
Senior activities begin to occur after the break as well. Participation in these activities is a privilege and students need to earn the right to participate through good attendance and behavior.
