Community seeks donations for West Chicago family who lost home to fire Thursday

WEST CHICAGO — Community members are collecting items for a West Chicago family who lost their home and all belongings to a fire Thursday afternoon.

Neighbors in the Cornerstone Lakes subdivision have circulated a flier requesting gift cards, cash donations, dog food, cat food and any other incidentals to help the family through this devastating time.

Those wishing to make a donation can contact Dawn at 630-513-5304 or Bonnie at 630-584-5093.

The fire caused significant damage to the single-family residence in the 2400 block of Alamance Drive, West Chicago Fire Chief Robert Hodge said.

Four individuals were injured in the fire, including one firefighter and three residents, fire officials said.

Two residents were treated on the scene for smoke inhalation and released, while one resident was treated for smoke inhalation at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield and released, Hodge said. A firefighter was treated at the hospital for minor burns and released.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Hodge said.
