STEM classes come to St. John Lutheran Church; enrollment ends April 30

DARIEN — St. John Lutheran Church, located at 7214 South Cass Ave. in Darien, will be the site of two Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) Education classes this summer.

Sponsored by The Whole Child Learning Company as part of its Worlds of Wonder (WOW) Program, these classes are for children ages 5 to 12. Each six-week class runs from 9 a.m. to noon and the cost is $150 or $30 per session. A $35 deposit is required.

The LEGO Elementary Engineering class will develop through investigating a fundamental understanding of the principles behind simple machines, structures and mechanisms. The class will meet on Fridays from June 7 through July 18.

Gross Out 1 Chemistry will see students making a mess exploring the science behind chemical reactions. Children will create a quicksand simulation, slime, flubber, a foam machine and a mad scientist bubble lab, to name just a few projects. This class will meet on Mondays from June 7 through July 18.
