GLEN ELLYN — Students and staff at Hadley Junior High School in Glen Ellyn participated in World Down Syndrome Day on March 21.

Students and staff held a Crazy Sock Day where everyone came to school wearing brightly colored and unusual socks. Students with Down syndrome, along with their Best Buddies, created a video to highlight the day that was shown to the entire school.

In the video, students danced to the song "Who I Am" by Sarah Conant.

World Down Syndrome Day is a global event dedicated to raising awareness of what Down syndrome is, what it means to have Down syndrome and how people with Down syndrome play a vital role in their communities, according to the World Down Syndrome Day website. The day is held March 21 because people with Down syndrome are born with three copies of chromosome 21.
