Emma Fisher, sr. (distance)

Josephine Jelinek, so. (sprints)

Amy Nosek, jr. (high jump)

What to watch: Emma Fisher headlines as York’s top athlete. After finishing second at state cross country in the fall and fifth in the 3,200-meter run last spring, Fisher will be looking to improve upon that this year.

The Dukes’ senior should be a threat in the 3,200 and the 1,600.

Sophomores Shante Dansby and Josephine Jelinek return after competing in the Dukes’ 4 x 400 relay last spring. The Dukes were eighth at state in the event last year.

As for field events, Amy Nosek was a state qualifier in the high jump, and Julia Biegler placed in both the triple jump and the high jump at the West Suburban Silver indoor meet.

Top returners:

Allie Cervone, sr. (throws)

Rachel Hill, jr. (sprints)

Cara Horan, jr. (sprints)

Marissa Mesnard, sr. (sprints)

What to watch: Returning state qualifier Allie Cervone is looking to get back to state this year. She qualified in shot put last spring, but also has a chance in the discus.

The 4 x 100- and 4 x 200-meter relays also went to state and have a number of returners. Rachel Hill, Cara Horan and Marissa Mesnard bring state experience back. Sophomore Maddie Aspan is an early favorite to join them on the relay team.
