Avon walker looks to participate for seventh time
DARIEN — Later this spring, Irene Murray will walk a little more than 275 miles, say 275 prayers and sing, laugh and dance her way along a two-day journey for a good cause.
The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Chicago is a two-day, 39.3-mile walk going from Soldier Field to Horner Park and back again. It’s a chance to not only raise funds to help eliminate breast cancer, but to bring thousands together who have been touched by the disease.
Murray’s story starts when she was a teenager. She was one of seven kids when she lost her mother 33 years ago to breast cancer.
