VILLA PARK — A Villa Park man was arrested last week after he allegedly displayed a handgun in public, police said.

Ismael A. Garcia, 20, of Villa Park, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after police responded to reports of a man with a gun at 12:01 a.m. March 20 in the 400 block of West Division Street. Two men ran when the police arrived, but officers were able to stop Garcia.

When they returned to the home where they had originally responded, police found a loaded 9mm Taurus semi-automatic handgun, which Garcia admitted to owning.

Garcia was charged and taken to DuPage County Jail, where he is being held on $9,000 bond. He also is required to register as a violent offender against youth for a prior incident, police said.
