LOMBARD — A Plainfield man was found guilty Wednesday on felony charges that he caused the death of a Lombard man after a road rage incident in Naperville last spring.

Michael Moreno, 32, of 11713 Presley Court, was found guilty after a four-day bench trial that was presided over by DuPage County Circuit Court Judge George Bakalis. Gerald Puglise of Lombard was killed during a June 2012 crash in Naperville.

About 5 p.m. June 15, Moreno was involved in an incident of road rage with another vehicle, prosecutors said. He chased the car west on Ogden Avenue in Naperville and when he turned across oncoming traffic to go south on River Road, he hit Puglise, who was riding a motorcycle.

After hitting Puglise, Moreno left the scene but was tracked down by Naperville police a short time later and taken to the hospital, where he tested positive for cocaine and marijuana.

Moreno was found guilty of two felony counts of aggravated driving under the influence of drugs involving death, one felony count of aggravated leaving the scene of an accident involving death and one felony count of disorderly conduct.

Moreno could be sentenced to up to 29 years in prison. He will next appear in court on April 22 for a pre-sentencing hearing.
