Letter: Westmont resident supports Downers Grove Township incumbents

Published: Wednesday, March 27, 2013 4:20 p.m. CST

In the election on April 9, we will vote to elect various candidates for the Downers Grove Township.

The township’s five departments provide a myriad of services and programs for all residents. Temporary general assistance under federal and state guidelines helps our neighbors who have nowhere else to turn; youth services include social-emotional and prevention education programs coordinated with local schools and peer jury programs in coordination with the local police departments; snow plowing, brush pick-up, electronics recycling, and maintenance of 70 miles of unincorporated highways are handled by the Highway Department; senior citizen services offered through SALT and county coordination; and the Assessor’s Office efficiently handles property tax assessments.

Remarkably, the current administration has accomplished all of this each year with a balanced budget, paying for everything as they go and without incurring debt. This is the kind of responsible government we need, and should vote for. They work well together as a complete team and should stay a complete team to continue serving us so well.

On April 9, please vote to continue efficient responsive township government by voting for Frank Wurster, Lauira Hois, Teresa Cockrell, Lawrence Anderson, Bill Swanston, Kathy Abbate, Mark Cuthbert and Lorraine Grimsby!

Glen Solo, Westmont
