ELECTION 2013: After 32 years, Woodridge residents will select a new mayor Tuesday

WOODRIDGE — For the first time in more than 30 years, residents in Woodridge will elect a new mayor April 9.

Four candidates are eyeing the seat of Mayor Bill Murphy — one of the longest serving mayors in the Chicago area — who plans to retire. He has held the seat since 1981.

While all four candidates have different ideas and ways to address the issues that Woodridge will face over the next four years, they all agree that whoever is elected will have big shoes to fill in Murphy's.

Voters will also elect three new trustees to the village board, giving the seven-member board four new votes with the new mayor.
