1) What is the most important issue in this election?
The most important issue in this election is how to get more revenue and how to spend it. Downers Grove residents are feeling the pain of increased taxes, fees, rates and living expenses. The village needs to ease residents’ financial burden by growing a diverse, strong economic base. We need to attract, expand and retain businesses and promote tourism to bring in additional tax revenue and consolidate, privatize and partner with other entities to reduce expenses without sacrificing the quality or quantity of village services. And we need to prioritize our spending and proactively seek community involvement in village decisions.
2) Why should voters choose you?
My 20 years combined experience in law, business and human resources most closely match the knowledge and skills needed to serve as commissioner in growing our economy, being fiscally responsible and enhancing community involvement. I bring the analytic skills that come from practicing law, firsthand experience working for governments and private employers managing business development, budgets, contracts and compliance programs, and as a human resources professional, I bring extensive experience in resolving individual differences through consensus, communication and ethical behavior. I will use this experience to enhance the village’s status as a great community to live, work, play and learn.
