Woodridge Park District names its annual Coach of the Year winner
WOODRIDGE — The Woodridge Park District announced Tuesday that Tom Senne was recently selected as the 2012 Coach of the Year as part of its annual program to recognize volunteer coaches in the community.
Senne has coached the Woodridge Park District youth basketball and girls’ softball program since 2005. Most recently, he was the head coach for the girls’ sixth- to eighth-grade basketball team.
Senne has truly enjoyed coaching over the years and is thankful other coaches let him participate in practices and games to get his feet wet in his beginning coaching years, Park District officials said in a press release announcing Senne's recognition.
“I’ve always enjoyed sports and felt that I could do a good job teaching others not only the game, but to have fun doing it," Senne said. "Coaching is a benefit to me just as much as it is for the kids because it keeps me young and is something I am passionate about. I work to involve parents as much as possible. It’s a great way to be a part of your kids’ lives, even if just a small part of it.”
