Chicago artist Joel Siegel will display his pop culture-inspired art at the Classic Cinemas' North Riverside Mall theatre through the month of April.

NORTH RIVERSIDE — Classic Cinemas' North Riverside Mall theatre has announced the next artist in its showcase series.

Each month, Classic Cinemas picks an artist to show off work in the lobby of the Riverside Mall theatre, 7501 W. Cermack Road.

Joel Siegel, 28, of Chicago, has been chosen as April's artist. His work will be up at the theatre starting April 1 and will remain until the end of the month.

Siegel's prints are inspired by pop artist Roy Lichtenstein and pop culture influences from movies, television and video games.

“I create these pieces about movies, games and TV so the viewer can be taken back to those moments of incredible emotion whether it be shock, fear, pain, excitement, love, passion, realization, joy laughter or shame," Siegel said of his work."

Siegel is looking forward to these reactions from visitors to the theatre.

“I am thrilled to have fellow movie fans see my movie themed artwork and I hope they enjoy it as much as I have making it,” he said."

Siegel's work will also be displayed at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo in late April.
