WEST CHICAGO — The Community High School District 94 jazz band left March 21 to visit West Chicago's Sister City Taufkirchen (Vils), Germany.

During the trip, students will have an opportunity to play at the German middle school/high school and visit with students there. They also will perform for the community with the local Swing Orchestra, which visited West Chicago in 2005.

For some District 94 students, this will be their first trip out of the United States; for others, it will be their first trip to Europe. The towns they will be seeing on their trip include Salzburg, Austria; Neuschwanstein; Munich; Dachau; and, of course, Taufkirchen (Vils).

Many students shared their excitement and thoughts of traveling abroad with members of West Chicago Sister Cities during a send-off party earlier this month. West Chicago Sister Cities is an organization that "fosters peace through culture, education and people-to-people" exchanges.

When they return, members of the jazz band will relate their experiences at the April 4 meeting of West Chicago Sister Cities, which will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. at Pal Joey's Restaurant, 440 E. Roosevelt Road, Suite 120, West Chicago.
