Lyons police find gun stash while investigating possible abuse incident

LYONS - Police reported discovering a stash of guns in a home in the 7200 block of 38th Place on March 19 while officers were investigating a possible situation of abuse reported to the Department of Child and Family Services.

As officers were attempting to take the children into custody, police said their father began to struggle with officers. Daniel Godlewski, 43, of the 7200 block of 38th Place, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery of a police officer.

While in the home, police discovered and seized several firearms, including a sawed-off shotgun and a revolver with the serial number filed off. In addition, police seized three .308 caliber assault riffles and a .45 caliber handgun.
