HINSDALE — Hinsdale Township High School District 86 was recently named one of only 78 Illinois school districts—out of 866 school districts considered—to be honored with the 2013 Bright Red Apple Award for educational excellence.

District 86 has earned this award for 19 consecutive years.

This award is based on five family-favored categories, including academic performance, pupil-teacher ratio, operating expenditure per pupil, educational level of teachers and average teacher salary.

All school districts in Illinois are considered for the award.
