ELMHURST — The Elmhurst Garden Club will award scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 to area college students enrolled in programs related to horticulture, conservation, landscape architecture or environmental science.

The deadline for scholarship applications is May 1. Application forms are available on the club's website, elmhurstgardenclub.org, and through the financial aid offices and websites at Elmhurst College, College of DuPage, Triton College and Northern Illinois University.

The Elmhurst Garden Club has awarded more than $13,000 in scholarships during the past year and has supported the Counselor-Training Program at the Morton Arboretum with a $750 award.

Funds for the scholarship program, named for Mildred Hartney, a long-time Elmhurst Garden Club member, are raised from the club's annual Garden Walk and Faire, which this year will be held on July 14.
