DOWNERS GROVE — Downers Grove North High School has looked within for its new associate principal for operations.
Community High School District 99 officials tapped Ken Sorensen, an assistant principal at the school since 2005, to take over the post. The school board approved the hire at a Monday night meeting, and the change takes effect July 1.
As an assistant principal, Sorensen oversaw student activities and technology. In his new capacity, he will manage "all facets of operations, technology and student discipline as well as personnel management at the school," according to a district release.
Before joining North, Sorensen worked at Main South High School in Park Ridge. He has a doctorate in biochemistry from Loyola University of Chicago.
“I am excited about the challenge of new responsibilities and the opportunity to continue to serve our outstanding students, staff and community,” Sorensen said in the release. “North High is a special place, and my goal is to uphold our long tradition of quality and excellence.”
He will replace Chuck Hiscock, who will take over as principal at West Aurora High School.
