VILLA PARK — Last week, the Villa Park Professional Fire Fighters Association, Local 2392 of the International Association of Fire Fighters, announced its endorsement for Deborah Bullwinkel for the village president position. Bullwinkel, a current village trustee, is running against retired Police Chief John Heidelmeier in the April 9 election.

Before making the endorsement, members of the firefighter association's political action committee interviewed Bullwinkel and Heidelmeier.
According to a news release from the group, it decided to support Bullwinkel because of her plans for economic development in the village and her commitment to "maintaining the current administration."

"We support her position and share her belief that addressing these important issues will improve the village and the community," said Frank Reposh, president of the Villa Park Fire Fighters Association.

The labor organization represents the 24 lieutenant/paramedics and firefighter/paramedics employed by the village.
