The Bulldogs opened the season with a 4-0 loss to Lake Park on March 12.
Oak Park-River Forest left La Grange Park with a 3-1 win on Friday in the Roadrunners' season opener.
It was a busy opening week for the Friars. They went 4-0 to win the Windy City tournament, which was capped off by a penalty-kick victory over Bolingbrook in the final Sunday at Toyota Park. The Friars beat Eisenhower (7-0), Romeoville (7-0) and Lincoln-Way West (1-0) to get to the final where they knocked off the Raiders 5-4 in penalties after a goalless regulation.
BOYS INDOOR TRACK
LT finished nine points ahead of York for the West Suburban Silver title on Friday at Proviso West.
Matt Harris won the 55-meter low hurdles (7.34 seconds), edging teammate Lino Mogorovic by one one-hundredth of a second, and the long jump (23 feet, 8.5 inches). Mogorovic did pick up a win in the 55 high hurdles. Matt Grider won the 200 dash in 23.11, Alex Lima won the 600 (1:24.49), Jimmy Mitchell won shot put (54-5.5) and the Lions won all three relays.
RB placed third at the Metro Suburban Conference meet on March 12. Jack VandeMerkt won the high jump, and Marvin McKenzie won the 55-meter dash. McKenzie also took third in the 400 and the long jump. Richie Mandel took second in the pole vault. The Bulldogs' 4 x 160 relay also took second.
Patrick Yerkes' second-place finish in the 1,600-meter run highlighted the Friars' showing at the Chicago Catholic League Championships. Fenwick was ninth out of 14 teams.
Demetrius Morrow's third-place finish in the high jump were the only points the Chargers scored at the Chicago Catholic League Championships.
Byron Jackson took second in the 200-meter dash in the West Suburban Silver meet and Jamaal Payton was runner-up in the long jump. The Panthers were seventh at the meet.
GIRLS INDOOR TRACK
Three Lions picked up wins at the West Suburban Silver meet at York. Sarah Kreikeimeier won the 400-meter dash in 59.26 seconds. Makayla Hubbard won the shot put (39 feet, 10 inches) and was followed by teammate Laura Krivicich. Sophomore Emma Haugen won the high jump (5-4) and was second in the 55-meter hurdles and long jump.
RB opened its season with a seventh-place finish at the Metro Suburban Conference meet at Glenbard South on Friday. Freshman Emma Beener was fourth in the long jump.
Emani Johnson won three events at the West Suburban Silver meet. She won the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.53 seconds in the finals. She also won the 200 (26.81) and the long jump (17 feet, 3.5 inches). Jabria Stainback won the triple jump (36-3) and was runner-up in the high jump.
BOYS WATER POLO
A 17-11 win over Shepard on Thursday gave RB its first win of the season.
GIRLS WATER POLO
The Lions beat Oak Park-River Forest 11-6 on March 12.
The Bulldogs went 3-3 last week. Three straight wins over Richards (22-6), Stagg (14-4) and Lockport (6-5) were followed by losses to Loyola (17-2), Neuqua Valley (6-3) and Naperville North (12-1).
The Mustangs followed up wins over Stagg (18-13) and Northside Prep (10-7) with a second-place finish at the Bremen tournament. Morton went 2-1 at Bremen and lost to Bradley 13-8 in the final.
Wins over Loyola (13-8) and Mother McAuley (5-3) opened the season for the two-time defending state champion Friars. Fenwick lost just two starters from last year's team and is once again the favorite.
RB opened the season with a 15-0 sweep of Fenton on March 12. On Thursday, Zion Benton beat the Bulldogs 13-2. RB took third at Leyden's Eagle Invite on Friday.
The Lions beat Glenbard West 141.2-136.4 on Thursday. Chris Rediehs totaled a 50.4 all-around and had the top scores on floor (9.1), vault (9.2) and high bar (7.2). On Friday LT was second in Hinsdale Central's Krupicka Invitational with a score of 141.15, finishing a point behind Mundelein. Rediehs was third in the all-around at 52.25 and tied for first in vault with a 9.3.
