Wheaton Warrenville South grad Streelman wins first PGA event
Wheaton Warrenville South graduate Kevin Streelman won for the first time on the PGA tour Sunday, capturing the title at the Tampa Bay Championship in Palm Harbor, FL.
He shot a four-under 67 in the final round to win by two strokes. Book Weekley, who carded a 63 on Sunday, was the runner-up.
Streelman took the lead for good with a birdie on the par-3 13th-hole and added a birdie on the 17th to give himself a two-shot cushion heading into the final hole. He would end with a par, which gave him a 10-under 274 for the tournament and netted him $990,000.
With the victory, Streelman received an invite to the Masters where he will compete for the second time.
