Elmhurst man allegedly stole up to $8K in items from Kmart

ELMHURST — An Elmhurst man and Kmart employee has been taken into custody after he allegedly stole between $5,500 and $8,000 in merchandise from the store since 2012, police said.
 
Kmart called Elmhurst police at noon March 13 in reference to an employee they believed was stealing from the business, 265 S. Route 83.
 
The 32-year-old employee allegedly told police he had taken up to $8,000 in merchandise from the store since September of last year.
 
The man was taken into custody, but police have not announced charges. The investigation is pending.
