Pastor Corey Brooks, activist clergy to talk urban ministry at Elmhurst College
ELMHURST — Several well-known activist church leaders who have spoken out against urban violence, poverty and crime will gather at Elmhurst College on March 21 for "Sacred Conversations on Urban Ministry," a panel discussion sponsored by the College’s Niebuhr Center for Faith and Action.
Panelists will include Fr. Michael Pfleger of Chicago’s St. Sabina parish; Shane Claiborne, co-founder of The Simple Way in Philadelphia; Pastor Corey Brooks of the New Beginnings Church in Chicago; and the Rev. Dr. Shanta Premawardhana, who leads the Seminary Consortium for Urban Pastoral Education in Chicago.
The event will be moderated by the Rev. Ronald Harris, CEO of the Paulsjourney urban ministry program in Chicago.
