Fire damage leaves Downers Grove home uninhabitable
DOWNERS GROVE — A home in unincorporated Downers Grove was extensively damaged by fire early Thursday morning, but no one was harmed in in the 2 a.m. blaze.
The fire began in the garage of a home in the 20W400 block of Rooke Court and spread to the adjoining family room and attic area, according to officials with the Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District.
Fire units were dispatched at 2:17 a.m. The three occupants of the home and their pets had escaped before emergency crews arrived.
