Downers Grove Distrct 99 forum scheduled for Thursday

Published: Thursday, March 14, 2013 6:00 a.m. CDT

DOWNERS GROVE — With no snow in the forecast, Downers Grove school board candidates are all set to appear at a candidate forum Thursday night.

The five hopefuls for the Community Unit School District 99 school board have the chance to present their platforms and answer questions during the forum hosted by the League of Women Voters.

The forum had been scheduled for last week, but it was canceled on account of snow.

The forum runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Village Hall, 801 Burlington Ave. The five candidates — incumbents Debbie Boyle, Terry Pavesich and Julia Beckman, and challengers Rick Pavinato and Martin Gorski — are running for four seats on the board.

One incumbent, board President Bill White, is not running for re-election, and this week, candidate Henry Jakobsze dropped out of the race and endorsed Boyle.

The league is hosting another forum this month for candidates for Downers Grove Village Council at 7 p.m. March 26 at Village Hall.
