Bolingbrook High School team receives high rankings at local drama festival
Bolingbrook High School took home one of three Superior Performance awards and received the Tech Excellence award at the Southwest Suburban Conference Drama/Group Interpretation Festival March 9.
Bolingbrook High School will now compete at Drama Group Interpretation sectional competition 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Thornton Fractional South High School. Admission is free for all attendees.
Devonte Sanders, Paula Freeman and Mikayla Houson, cast members of the high school's contest play “A Star Ain’t Nothing but a Hole in Heaven,” received All-Conference Cast Medals for their individual performances.
Donna Franks-Tapley directs the play, Charles Palia is assistant director, Dania Harris is student director, and Mohamed Elhrisse and Kayla Lottie are fellow cast members.
The stage crew includes Shea Ihne, Jennifer Luchessi, Dania Harris, Heather Raynie, Cierah Jackson, Kierah Jackson, Brianna Jackson, Ashley Daniels, Zachory Taylor, Brianna Campbell, Adam Patton and Clarence Blake.
Contest play is an Illinois High School Association competitive theater activity in which students are given one hour to set the stage, perform the show and take it all apart. Students are judged based on their overall and individual performances, scenery and technical delivery of lights and sound effects.
