Local mayors to volunteer with DuPage senior group
LOMBARD — Mayors and municipal leaders from almost 20 local communities have agreed to partner with the Lombard-based DuPage Senior Citizens Council for the annual Mayors for Meals Day, where they will deliver meals to local seniors.
Some local mayors include Wheaton Mayor Mike Gresk, West Chicago Mayor Ruben Pineda, Carol Stream Mayor Frank Saverino and Warrenville Mayor David Brummel.
Mayors for Meals Day was created by the Meals on Wheels Association of America to raise awareness about senior hunger and to encourage community members to help local seniors through volunteer efforts.
On March 20, local mayors will travel through their communities with DuPage Senior Citizens Council staff and volunteers to deliver meals to homebound seniors.
To learn more about the DuPage Senior Citizens Council or to volunteer, call 630-620-0084 or visit www.dupageseniorcouncil.org.
