La Grange businesses to celebrate Earth Hour March 23
LA GRANGE — If you take a stroll through downtown La Grange in the evening on Saturday, March 23, you might notice things looking a bit darker than normal.
No, the power isn't out—La Grange businesses are just celebrating Earth Hour.
Earth Hour is a global movement organized by the World Wildlife Fund and held every March. Last year's activities took place in more than 7000 cities and towns across 152 countries and terrirories.
La Grange businesses will be doing their part this year to raise awareness about climate change by turning off their lights from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Not to miss and opportunity, several participating businesses will be doing something special for their dark hour.
EcoManiacs, 74 S. La Grange Rd., will host games and provide s'mores around a an eco-campfire.
Red Mango, 81 S. La Grange Rd., will offer glow in the dark green hair and mustaches to customers while supplies last during Earth Hour.
At Fireside Wood-Fired Pizza, 18 W. Harris St., diners can enjoy their meal to the glow of candels and the flames inside Fireside's wood-fired pizza oven. Any pizza and beer can be had for $12 from 8:30-9:30 p.m.
Also offering candelight dining for Earth Hour are Prasino and Francesca's Bellezza.
